More US Patents Granted In 2019 Than Ever Before

Law360 (January 14, 2020, 8:52 PM EST) -- The number of patents issued by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office hit an all-time high in 2019, with IBM holding its top spot as the U.S. patent leader for the 27th year in a row, according to a Tuesday report.

The USPTO granted a record 333,530 patents in 2019, a figure that research firm IFI Claims Patent Services noted is an “unprecedented” 15% increase from 2018, which had seen a slight drop in numbers from the year before.
