Guidant Found Not Liable In Shocking Pacemaker Suit

Law360, New York (September 21, 2009, 6:24 PM EDT) -- Boston Scientific Corp. unit Guidant Corp. has won a suit against a Pennsylvania pacemaker recipient who claimed that Guidant representatives present at the operation to install the device failed to correct an alleged error by the doctor.

Judge Eugene Strassburger of the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County, Pa., issued a directed verdict in favor of Guidant on Sept. 15, finding the medical device company was not liable for the pacemaker's allegedly faulty installation.
