Energy Transfer To Pay $30M To End FERC Action

Law360, New York (September 21, 2009, 4:27 PM EDT) -- The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has approved a $30 million deal to end its action that alleged Energy Transfer Partners LP manipulated wholesale natural gas prices, in the heftiest FERC settlement since the Energy Policy Act of 2005 broadened the regulator's authority.

FERC said Monday that it had approved the agreement, which requires ETP to pay a $5 million civil penalty and establish a $25 million fund to pay back unjust profits to entities that file claims.
