Court Grants Injunction In Epilepsy Drug Patent Case

Law360, New York (October 24, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- OrthoMcNeil Neurologics Inc. won an injunction on Monday against generics producer Mylan Laboratories Inc., blocking the release of a generic form of the blockbuster epilepsy drug until a final court decides on the validity of the Topamax patent.

Judge Stanley Chesler of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey granted Johnson & Johnson subsidiary OrthoMcNeil’s request for an injunction over the sale of topiramate, the medical name for anticonvulsant drug Topamax.
