Coach Bags Lawsuit Against Target Purses

Law360, New York (October 25, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Luxury goods maker Coach Inc. has dropped the lawsuit it brought last month against Target Corp., alleging the discount retailer was infringing on its trademark.

The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, was dismissed Friday.

The suit alleged that Target was infringing Coach’s trademark by selling a handbag that imitates the designs of Coach products and the legendary Coach trademark. N.Y.-based Coach had said that its damages have exceeded $1 million.
