Katrina Trailer Plaintiffs Slam Gov't Contractor Defense

Law360, New York (September 24, 2009, 5:43 PM EDT) -- Plaintiffs alleging they were issued formaldehyde-laden trailers after Hurricane Katrina have asked a judge to shoot down Fluor Enterprises Inc.'s affirmative defenses, including its argument that the government contractor defense shields the housing unit installer from liability.

In the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana on Wednesday, the plaintiffs asked for judgment as a matter of law against defenses asserted by Fluor, which the government contracted to haul and install emergency housing units in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
