Stanford Bids To Protect Assets In Fraud Case

Law360, New York (September 25, 2009, 2:04 PM EDT) -- Former billionaire and accused fraudster Robert Allen Stanford reportedly is seeking the reversal of two court rulings allowing a receiver to sell assets from his private equity holdings to pay off investors allegedly bilked by his $7 billion Ponzi scheme.

Lawyers for the disgraced financier said in court documents filed Sept. 24 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas that they intend to appeal a pair of August rulings by trial court Judge David Godbey giving court-appointed receiver Ralph Janvey the authority...
