WTO To Probe Brazil Orange Juice Tax Complaint

Law360, New York (September 25, 2009, 4:14 PM EDT) -- The World Trade Organization has reportedly said it will investigate whether the U.S. is illegally taxing frozen orange juice imported from Brazil.

The WTO set up the investigative panel on Friday, after Brazil told the WTO's dispute body that Washington was improperly punishing the South American nation over suspected dumping, the Associated Press reported.

Brazil requested the dispute settlement panel on Sept. 11 under the Marrakesh Agreement, according to a notice by the Office of U.S. Trade Representative in the Federal Register.
