Ford, Severstal Cleanup Suit Against MichCon Pared

Law360, New York (September 30, 2009, 3:22 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has trimmed a suit filed by Ford Motor Co. and steel manufacturer Severstal North America Inc. to force Michigan Consolidated Gas Co. to cover environmental cleanup costs at a swath of land near Michigan's Rouge River.

In an order handed down Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, Judge Robert H. Cleland tossed the plaintiffs' claims for common law indemnification and for contribution under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act.
