Exel Direct Driver's Classification Suit Gets Trimmed

Law360, New York (October 1, 2009, 5:10 PM EDT) -- Exel Direct Inc. has won the dismissal of several claims in a proposed class action accusing the delivery company of improperly classifying its army of drivers as independent contractors.

Judge Wayne Andersen of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois on Tuesday tossed four claims from the drivers' seven-count complaint and agreed to revisit Exel's failed motions to strike other claims in the suit at a later date.
