TomTom Can't Get Touch-Screen Patent Suit Tossed

Law360, New York (October 5, 2009, 6:19 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has denied TomTom Inc.'s request to toss a patent infringement suit brought by SP Technologies LLC over a method for entering data on a touch-screen display.

TomTom claimed that SP Technologies' patent was unenforceable because of inequitable conduct on the part of the inventors, but Judge Rebecca R. Pallmeyer upheld the validity of U.S. Patent Number 6,784,873 in a ruling Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
