Sexual Harassment Case Costs Vons $18 Million

Law360, New York (October 30, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- A California jury has awarded $18 million to a former clerk at supermarket chain Vons Companies Inc. who claimed he was fired after filing a report accusing a female supervisor of sexual harassment.

James Stevens, who had worked with Vons for 25 years as an inventory clerk, was awarded about $16 million in punitive damages and $1.7 million for economic loss and emotional distress.
