AMD Settles Patent Suit with Intergraph

Law360, New York (April 12, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Semiconductor manufacturer Advanced Micro Devices Inc. will pay $25 million to settle a patent dispute with Intergraph, only a few weeks after Intel settled a long-running dispute with Intergraph over the same technology for $224 million.

Under the agreement, unveiled Monday, AMD will receive a license to Intergraph’s "Clipper" microprocessor patents in return for $10 million, and up to another $5 million a year from 2005 to 2007.

AMD will pay Intergraph $10 million, plus 2% of profits from its microprocessor sales for three years (2005-2007)....
