Dairy Farmers Of America Accused Of Milk Monopoly

Law360, New York (October 12, 2009, 9:49 AM EDT) -- Northeastern dairy farmers have filed a class action against Dairy Farmers of America Inc. alleging DFA and Dean Foods Co. have collaborated in a price-fixing scheme and have monopolized distribution of fluid milk in the Northeast.

The lawsuit, filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Vermont, claims DFA has created a monopoly power in the milk business by tying up access to milk bottling plants in the Northeast through unlawful executive supply agreements.
