Costco, Tyson Reach E. Coli Testing Deal

Law360, New York (October 9, 2009, 3:47 PM EDT) -- Tyson Foods Inc. and Costco Wholesale Corp. have reportedly reached an agreement that will allow Costco to test Tyson slaughterhouse trimmings for E. coli bacteria.

In an expose on flaws in beef inspection on Sunday, the New York Times reported that Tyson refused to supply Costco with beef because Costco is one of the few major beef producers to test trimmings for E. coli before grinding it.
