New Criminal Chief Recused In Madoff Suits

Law360, New York (October 12, 2009, 6:44 PM EDT) -- Only days after being named the new head of the New York U.S. Attorney's Office's Criminal Division, attorney Richard Zabel has been removed from any Bernard Madoff-related proceedings because of an apparent conflict of interest.

On Monday the U.S. Attorney's Office in New York confirmed that Zabel had been recused from the ongoing criminal investigation into Madoff's $65 billion Ponzi scheme, with the office providing no additional comment.
