Antitrust Claims In NatGas MDL Not Barred: Judge

Law360, New York (October 14, 2009, 2:14 PM EDT) -- Antitrust claims against more than a dozen companies in the Western States Wholesale Natural Gas case are not barred by the Commodity Exchange Act, a federal judge has ruled, denying a bid for judgment on the pleadings by defendants including Houston-based Reliant Energy Inc.

Tuesday's ruling, issued by Judge Philip M. Pro in the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada, rejected legal theories brought by the defense and paved the way for an amended complaint to be filed in the near future.
