Metrolink To Pay $30M To Settle Glendale Crash Suits

Law360, New York (October 14, 2009, 5:03 PM EDT) -- Los Angeles commuter rail carrier Metrolink has agreed to pay $30 million to settle most of the personal injury and wrongful death claims against it over a 2005 derailment in Glendale, Calif., that killed 11 people, attorneys for the plaintiffs announced Wednesday.

The $30 million figure reflects a series of agreements plaintiffs have reached with Metrolink over the last 90 days, according to Jerome Ringler, an attorney for the plaintiffs. The suits that have not been settled are scheduled to go to trial in January in...
