Ombudsman Assigned, Refco Seeks To Sell Client Lists

Law360, New York (November 2, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- The bankruptcy judge in Refco Inc.’s Chapter 11 case has granted a motion seeking the appointment of a consumer privacy ombudsman, bringing the bankrupt commodities brokerage a step closer to selling off a list of Refco F/X Associates' foreign exchange customers.

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Robert Drain signed an order Tuesday giving the U.S. Trustee until November 7 to appoint the ombudsman, holding that the appointment would be in the best interests of both the estate and its creditors.
