Ex-Computer Associates CEO Gets 12 Years

Law360, New York (November 2, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Former Computer Associates chief executive Sanjay Kumar was sentenced to 12 years in prison and fined $8 million Thursday in connection with a $2.2 billion accounting fraud scandal at the company.

Judge I. Leo Glasser of the Federal District Court in Brooklyn sentenced the former Computer Associates International Inc. CEO to 144 months in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release. Kumar’s fine was deferred until after restitution is determined. A hearing on restitution is set for Feb. 2.
