Black McD's Workers Accuse Golden Arches Of Race Bias

Law360 (July 17, 2020, 4:55 PM EDT) -- Three Black McDonald's workers at a corporate-owned restaurant near Tampa, Florida, sued the fast food giant in federal court Friday, saying their manager punished them after they complained about racist remarks she made, including that Black people want "free stuff" and abuse marijuana.

Workers Monica Scott, Augusta Moody and Faith Booker claimed McDonald's violated Section 1981 of the Civil Rights Act of 1866 by fostering a work environment hostile to Blacks and retaliating against them when they complained, including by cutting their hours and writing them up for trumped-up transgressions.
