Chicago Aldermen Scold ComEd In Wake Of Bribery Scandal
Law360 (July 30, 2020, 9:59 PM EDT) -- Chicago aldermen on Thursday took executives from Commonwealth Edison Co. to task over the company's admission that former employees took part in a bribery scheme to garner support for favorable regulatory changes, as the city weighs whether to sign a new franchise agreement with the utility.
At a hours-long hearing of the city council's Committee on Environmental Protection and Energy Committee Thursday, ComEd CEO Joe Dominguez again apologized for the misconduct described by prosecutors, calling the utility's relationship with the city "vitally important" and stressing that the company must rebuild trust with customers and officials.
