New Player Enters Bratz Doll Saga

Law360, New York (October 23, 2009, 5:11 PM EDT) -- After years of litigation between Mattel Inc. and MGA Entertainment Inc. over who owns the copyright to the Bratz dolls, a Brooklyn, N.Y., artist is now claiming that he is actually the brains behind the much-disputed doll designs.

On Tuesday, Bernard Belair sued MGA Entertainment and Mattel Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, claiming the Bratz dolls were actually based on a series of sketches he did for one of Steve Madden's shoe campaigns.
