Alcoa Seeks $500M From EFH In Contract Suit

Law360, New York (October 23, 2009, 7:12 PM EDT) -- Aluminum company Alcoa Inc. is seeking $500 million in damages from Energy Future Holdings Corp. in a lawsuit accusing the energy company of overcharging Alcoa for electricity it provided for a Texas smelter by as much as a factor of 100.

Alcoa sought the damages in a third amended petition it filed Thursday in the Milam County District Court of Texas, where it first sued the private energy company in 2008. Earlier versions of the petition hadn't specified the amount of damages Alcoa was seeking, according...
