Inventor Sues Gateway, IBM, Others Over Hinge Patent

Law360 (November 6, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- A lone inventor is hauling some of the computer industry’s biggest names into federal court in Texas, claiming that the defendants’ laptop computers infringe a patent covering a hinge assembly.

The suit was filed last week on behalf of Oregon resident Khalil Zaidan against 6 defendants: Acer America Inc., Gateway Inc., Toshiba America Inc., Hewlett Packard Co., International Business Machines Co. and Fujitsu Computer Products of America Inc.
