Cisco To Pick Up ScanSafe In $183M Deal

Law360, New York (October 27, 2009, 1:28 PM EDT) -- Continuing its October buying spree, Cisco Systems Inc. on Tuesday announced its plan to buy privately held security software company ScanSafe Inc. for about $183 million.

The company said the acquisition — expected to close in the second quarter of 2010 — would build on its position in the fast-growing and lucrative Web-based security market.

The deal follows on the heels of Cisco's announcement on Oct. 13 that it would purchase mobile Internet network infrastructure company Starent Networks Corp. for an estimated $2.9 million.
