Facebook Won't Hit UK Advertisers With Digital Tax Costs

Law360 (September 4, 2020, 4:09 PM EDT) -- Facebook Inc. won't pass on costs from the recently enacted U.K. digital services tax to its advertisers, in contrast with practices announced by other U.S. tech platforms, a company spokesperson said Friday.

While Facebook currently has no plans to raise prices on its British advertisers, the spokesperson said the company would be monitoring the impact of the U.K. levy as well as international efforts to tax the digital economy.

"We are continuing to assess the U.K. law and similar legislation being considered globally," the Facebook representative told Law360.
