DOC Finds China Subsidized Steel Grating Exports

Law360, New York (October 28, 2009, 2:51 PM EDT) -- In an initial finding, the U.S. Department of Commerce has determined that certain steel grating imported from China has been unfairly subsidized by the Chinese government.

Commerce released an affirmative preliminary determination on Tuesday, finding that mandatory respondent Ningbo Jiulong Machinery Manufacturing Co. and its fellow Chinese producers and exporters have received countervailable subsidies of 7.44 percent.

The investigation was prompted by a petition from Alabama Metal Industries Corp. of Birmingham, Ala., and Fisher & Ludlow Inc. of Wexford, Pa., domestic producers of steel grating that...
