Screening Co. Off Hook For Brokerage’s 9/11 Suit

Law360, New York (October 29, 2009, 5:49 PM EDT) -- Brokerage firm Cantor Fitzgerald & Co. has lost a potential $1 billion in damages now that a judge has rejected its bid to belatedly add airport screening company Globe Aviation Services Corp. to a 9/11-related lawsuit.

Judge Alvin Hellerstein of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York denied on Wednesday a motion from Cantor to join Globe and several related companies to the suit as defendants, saying the brokerage's motion came too late in the case.
