Applera, Roche Win Patent Suit Over Genetic Equipment

Law360 (April 19, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A U.S. District Court jury in Connecticut has determined that MJ Research infringed four patents held by a unit of genetic equipment maker Applera Corp and Roche Molecular Systems.

The jury found that MJ Research infringed U.S. patent Nos. 4,683,195, 4,683,202 and 4,965,188 (each relates to polymerase chain reaction (PCR) process technology) and U.S. patent Nos. 5,656,493, 5,333,675 and 5,475,610 (each relates to thermal cycler instrument technology), Applera said.
