Voice Recognition Technology Spurs Patent Suit

Law360 (November 8, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- A speech recognition company has targeted a health care information technology provider in a patent infringement suit over patents related to systems for handling voice messages.

Nuance Communications Inc., based in Burlington, Mass., filed the suit last week in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, claiming that SoftMed Systems Inc. made and sold products that violated its patents covering centralized digital dictation systems and priority voice-message delivery systems.
