SRI’s Patent Suit Thrown Out

Law360, New York (November 8, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- A federal judge has dismissed SRI International Inc.’s patent infringement lawsuit against two security software companies it previously accused of violating four patents related to its network intrusion detection technology.

In granting Symantec Corp. and Internet Security Systems Inc.’s summary judgment motion, Judge Sue Robinson of the U.S. District Court in Wilmington, Del., ruled that the patents were all invalid based on previous publications authored by SRI employees more than a year before the earliest patent application was filed.
