Pa. Town's Anti-Mining Ordinances Voided Again

Law360, New York (November 2, 2009, 2:48 PM EST) -- A federal judge has issued a second decision that, like the first one, strikes down a series of ordinances and a resolution designed to prohibit energy development in a small Pennsylvania town.

Judge Donetta W. Ambrose first voided Blaine Township's ordinances this September when she granted a motion for judgment on the pleadings filed by coal companies Allegheny Pittsburgh Coal Co. and Penn Ridge Coal LLC. Then, on Thursday, she granted a similar motion filed by oil and gas company Range Resources.
