RIM Struck With Patent Suit Over Storm Touch Screen

Law360, New York (November 3, 2009, 2:52 PM EST) -- Technology company Media Digital Corp. has hit BlackBerry maker Research In Motion Ltd. with an infringement suit over a patent for touch screen technology.

Media Digital lodged its complaint Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, asserting that RIM’s mobile phones, such as the BlackBerry Storm, infringe its technology.

The patent-in-suit, U.S. Patent Number 7,130,778, pertains to a method for touch screen control of audio systems. The patent has belonged to Media Digital since it was first issued in October 2006,...
