Fiat Chrysler Inks Deal With Canadian Union Before Strike

Law360 (October 15, 2020, 7:01 PM EDT) -- Fiat Chrysler and the union representing its Canadian workers brokered a pact covering 9,000 autoworkers on late Wednesday evening, just minutes shy of a midnight strike planned at the automaker's Canadian plants.

Unifor, Canada's largest private-sector union with more than 315,000 members across the country, announced Wednesday night that it had negotiated a tentative three-year pact with Fiat Chrysler that will stabilize its Canadian operations and create thousands of jobs. The deal was reached just about eight minutes before midnight, when workers at Fiat Chrysler facilities in Montreal Ontario, and Alberta had planned to strike.
