Scripps Takes Charge Of Travel Channel Deal With Cox

Law360, New York (November 5, 2009, 5:06 PM EST) -- Scripps Networks Interactive Inc. announced Thursday that it would take on a controlling stake in the Travel Channel, home to television shows including “Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations” and “Bizarre Foods With Andrew Zimmern,” as part of a leveraged joint venture with Cox Communications Inc. valuing the network at around $975 million.

Scripps, which already owns the Food Network and HGTV, will take a 65 percent stake and kick in $181 million in cash to the venture. Cox will contribute the Travel Channel, which the two companies...
