Former GE Counsel Named To Senior DOJ Enviro Post

Law360, New York (November 6, 2009, 5:16 PM EST) -- The U.S. Senate has confirmed Ignacia S. Moreno, former counsel of corporate environmental programs at General Electric Co., as the assistant attorney general of the U.S. Department of Justice's Environment and Natural Resources Division.

In a unanimous vote Thursday evening, the Senate ushered the New York attorney into the position, where she will assist in defending the federal government against challenges to environmental regulations, as well as help to prosecute environmental offenders.

Seven senators did not vote.
