Lawyer Ran Settlement-Based Ponzi Scheme: Feds

Law360, New York (November 10, 2009, 1:08 PM EST) -- In the latest development in an ongoing probe, prosecutors claim that an attorney with South Florida firm Rothstein Rosenfeldt Adler PA has been operating a Ponzi scheme since 2005, using fake settlements as bait for investors.

In a case filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, federal prosecutors are trying to seize eight properties they say attorney Scott W. Rothstein bought with the proceeds of the scheme.
