Pike Electric Faces Overtime Collective Action

Law360, New York (November 11, 2009, 4:29 PM EST) -- Pike Electric Inc. has been hit with a proposed collective action alleging the electrical service company required its hourly electricians in Florida to work overtime without pay.

The complaint, filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida by Pike employee Julio Alvira, accuses Pike of willfully engaging in an “illegal and improper scheme” to deprive electricians of overtime pay, in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
