Union Pacific, US Working To Settle Utah Fire Claims

Law360, New York (November 12, 2009, 2:01 PM EST) -- Union Pacific Railroad Co. and the U.S. government have asked a federal judge to extend deadlines for fact discovery and testimony disclosures so that the two parties can continue to beat out a settlement over a Utah fire that burned 1,968 acres of federal land.

In a joint motion filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Utah Wednesday, the defendant railroad company and the U.S. pressed for two weeks of relief from their requirements to disclose the names and expertises of their witnesses...
