AXA Sues Google Over Trademark Policy

Law360, New York (April 25, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- French insurance company AXA has sued Google Inc. in the latest trademark challenge to the popular search engine’s controversial advertising model.

A preliminary hearing on AXA's allegations of "brand counterfeiting" is scheduled for May 10 in a Paris court.

AXA has refused to comment on the remedies being sought, including possible damages. Under French court procedures, details will not be made public until later hearings.
