Grocery Workers Union Asks To Join Fight Over Hazard Pay

By Daniela Porat (March 8, 2021, 7:51 PM EST) -- A union representing grocery and drugstore workers asked a California federal court to join a lawsuit over COVID-19 hazard pay to better represent the interests of its members and to assert its right to advocate for such emergency legislation.

In a filing on Friday requesting to intervene in the suit, United Food and Commercial Workers Local 770 asked to fight alongside the city of Montebello in a lawsuit filed by the California Grocers Association against the municipality over an ordinance requiring grocers to pay workers $4 extra an hour.
