Antitrust Panel Seeks To Quash Regulatory Overlap

Law360 (November 16, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Seeking to streamline the merger review process, the Antitrust Modernization Commission has recommended that the final say over a merger’s competitive impact be given to the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission - not other regulators.

By a vote of nine-to-three, the bipartisan panel passed the recommendation on Tuesday, marking the latest decision to arise from the Commission’s series of public meetings.
