German Cartel Watchdog Targets Deutsche Telekom

Law360, New York (December 2, 2009, 6:30 PM EST) -- Antitrust regulators in Germany have reportedly launched an investigation into claims that Deutsche Telekom AG abused its market position and gouged rivals using its telecommunications infrastructure.

Deutsche Telekom, parent of T-Mobile International AG, is being examined by the German cartel office amid suspicions that the company used its market dominance to charge excessive rates for access to some broadband infrastructure, Dow Jones reported.

A spokesman for the German telecommunications powerhouse confirmed that antitrust authorities have demanded information on pricing and market data, Dow Jones said....
