Pa. Addiction Treatment Center Hit With Data Breach Suit

Law360 (April 6, 2021, 3:56 PM EDT) -- Two former patients of a Pennsylvania addiction treatment program have launched a class action in state court alleging that the organization's lax data security measures resulted in a hack that exposed the personal information of nearly 8,000 people.

Kris Reese and Todd Saylor said in a complaint filed in the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas on Friday that the Pennsylvania Adult and Teen Challenge, a faith-based rehabilitation center headquartered outside of Reading, failed to ensure that it had proper protocols in place to protect the personal health information of its thousands of current and former patients.
