EBay, Craigslist Square Off In Trial Over Stock Purchase

Law360, New York (December 7, 2009, 5:09 PM EST) -- Two Internet giants went head to head on Monday as trial got under way over eBay Inc.'s allegations that Craigslist Inc. froze out the online auctioneer's interests as a minority shareholder.

Chancellor William B. Chandler III of the Delaware Chancery Court was expected to hear testimony reportedly from former eBay CEO Meg Whitman over eBay's acquisition of a minority interest in Craigslist in August 2004, with formerly undisclosed details of the transaction likely to come out at trial.
