$1.3M Fee Award Affirmed In US Steel Toxic Tort Suit

Law360, New York (December 9, 2009, 5:46 PM EST) -- Ruling on remand from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, a federal court judge has affirmed an award of $1.3 million in attorneys’ fees in a toxic tort class action against U.S. Steel Co.

Judge Avern Cohn affirmed the award Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, saying the fees — which constitute 30 percent of a $4.45 million settlement in the case — are in line with other fee awards in similar cases.
