Texas Electric Co-Ops Want Out Of Fla. Insurance Fight

Law360, New York (December 10, 2009, 4:07 PM EST) -- Two Texas-based nonprofit electric cooperatives have moved to kill claims against them in Florida, saying a federal court in the Sunshine State lacks jurisdiction over Liberty Mutual Fire Insurance Co.'s suit to duck coverage of damages stemming from a nine-day power outage.

South Texas Electric Cooperative Inc. and Brazos Electric Cooperative Inc. moved to dismiss Liberty Mutual's complaint for lack of personal jurisdiction on Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
