High Tide For Green Energy On The Continental Shelf

Law360, New York (December 15, 2009, 6:28 PM EST) -- Green energy is red hot in the United States. The American Clean Energy and Security Act, which was passed by the U.S. House of Representatives earlier this year, puts the Obama administration’s goals for expanded renewable energy output into tangible form.

It sets a Renewable Electricity Standard (RES) that requires retail electricity suppliers to meet an increasingly higher percentage of their load with electricity from renewable energy sources, rising from 6 percent in 2012 to 20 percent by 2020.
