Goodwin Procter Attys, Applied Materials Sanctioned

Law360, New York (December 21, 2009, 4:55 PM EST) -- The special master appointed in an ongoing trade secrets dispute between Applied Materials Inc. and semiconductor rival Advanced Micro-Fabrication Equipment Inc. has ordered sanctions against Applied and its attorneys at Goodwin Procter LLP over the belated production of an e-mail for discovery.

Special Master Thomas H.R. Denver issued his order Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, granting AMEC's request for sanctions over Applied's late production of an e-mail authored by Applied CEO Michael Splinter, which was relevant to AMEC's counterclaims....
